The 64th session was no exception from previous 63 annual music sessions of the organization since 1952. It was full of colours with the musicians who sat on our platform and adorned the ‘Nazrul Mancha’ auditorium of Kolkata with their rich and colourful music. Each night from the 22nd to 25th January, 2016, About 4000 music lovers sat glued to their chairs savouring the glittering music, both Vocal and Instrumental, on the card. Each night was a blending and bonding of presentation by veterans as well as comparatively newcomers and talented musicians of Indian classical music. We also presented few next generation artistes of different Gharanas who are presently representing their respective ‘Ghars’ with flying colours and glory.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Pandit Shivkumar Sharma, a doyen of Indian classical music. The great Santoor maestro inaugurated the 64th session of The Dover Lane Music Conference.
Sangeet Samman Award
The Sangeet Samman Award was conferred on Dr. N. Rajam, violin maestro and a doyen of Indian Classical Music on 23rd January before her recital.
Talent Search Contest-Awards
Prizes and awards for the annual Talent Search Contest were also presented to the successful contestants and the future torch bearers of Indian Classical Music on the same evening after the inaugural session.
About 4000 music loving audience from Kolkata and its suburbs and also from different parts of India and abroad attended this night-long soiree as usual like previous years.
