A Report – 70th Annual Music and Dance Conference

This year, the 70th Annual Conference started on 14th April, 2022 and continued up to the morning of 17th April,2022. All were night long sessions as usual.

We have lost a host of legendary artistes of Hindustani Classical music and dance during the period from 2021-2022. The 70th
annual session decided to dedicate all the four nights to the memory of Pt. Subhankar Banerjee, Pt. Birju Maharaj, Pt. Rajan Mishra
and Pt. Ananda Gopal Bandopadhyay. We deeply mourn their sad demise.

The inauguration of the 70th Annual Music Soiree took place on 14th April, 2022 at 8.30 p.m.at Nazrul Mancha Rabindra Sarobar.

At the inaugural ceremony on 14th April, the inaugural song ‘Vande Mataram’ was sung by Smt. Angira Kotal as a curtain raiser of
this year’s annual conference. The inaugural lamp was lit up by Ustad Rashid Khan, Sangeet Samman Awardee 2022.
Eminent guests were also present on the dais. Shri Pradipta Shankar Sen, Chairman of the Governing Body of the organisation
delivered the welcome address and Sri. Avijit Majumder General Secretary delivered the vote of thanks message.

Sangeet Samman Award 2022
